PULLS IN A PASS
The Baldwin Indians, behind quarterback Raegan Buckner's passing and running, were able to defeat Englewood Rams 20-7 April
4th at Don Jarrett Stadium. Buckner connected on 16 of 24 passes for two touchdowns and also ran 11 times scoring one touchdown
on the ground. Meanwhile the Indiandefense kept the Rams offense in check. Englewood hit on only 7 of 18 passes and had 2
Jasmine Bowman interception set up Buckner's first touchdown pass and a 7-0 Indians lead early in the game. After the Rams
were unable to move the ball and punted. Buckner drove the Indians down to the goal line where she hit Bowman with a 9 yard
touchdown pass to make the score 13-0.
The next drive Indians Angela Adkinson intercepted a Rams pass to set the Indians up again. On that drive Buckner scored
the touchdown on a 10 yard run. The first half ended with a 20-0 Indians lead.
In the second half the Rams were not able to move the ball early but were able to mount a goal line stand, stopping
the Indians at the 4 yard line. It wasn't until three minutes left in the game that the Rams were able to put something on
the board when Sarah Williams scored on a four your yard run for the Rams.
But in the final analysis the Indians defense and the quarterback play of Buckner were much too much for the Rams to
handle on this day. Coach Smith of the Indians recognized Bauman Buckner and Adkinson as the key players in this victory.
The Indians hit on 18 of 26 passes for two touchdowns and had one intercepted. Kimberly Byrd had that interception for
the Rams. The Indians ran the ball 17 times for 78 yards. The Rams offense ran the ball 18 times and passed the ball 18 times.
The Rams had two balls intercepted in pass for 73 yards. The Rams ran for 94 yards in the loss.
