VR62 NOMADS WIN STATION 4 ON 4 FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

14-9 VICTORY OVER VR58 SUNSEEKERS COMPLETES PLAYOFF RUN

VIDEO OF 2ND GAME CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE LOADING FRIDAY

BELOW VR62 DEFENSE (GREEN) KEPT VR58 OFFENSE (YELLOW) IN CHECK & WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 80 DEGREE HEAT

VR62 NOMADS DEFEATED VR58 SUNSEEKERS 14-9 IN THE NAS JAX 4 ON 4 FLAG FOOTBALL FINAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. VR62 HAD BEATEN VR58 EARLIER IN THE DAY 32-14 TO FORCE THE FINAL GAME IN THE PLAYOFFS DOUBLE ELIMINATION FORMAT.

VR58 HAD WON A 14-13 GAME A WEEK BEFORE IN THE EARLIER ROUNDS OF THE PLAYOFFS. VR62 DEFENSE WAS THE STORY OF DAY AS THE PASS RUSH LEAD BY MIKE THOMAS SACKED VR58 PASSERS 6 TIMES AND INTERCEPTED 2 PASSES. VR58 PASSERS WERE HARASSED & HURRIED ALL DAY AND NEVER WAS ABLE TO FIND TIME TO GET THE BALL DOWN FIELD AS THEY HAD DONE FOR MOST OF THE PLAYOFFS. VR62 SAFETY MATHEW DAVIS HAD BOTH PICKS FOR THE NOMADS.

ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL VR62 QUARTERBACK ANDREW NIGHTWINE HIT ON 25 OF 37 PASSES & TWO TD'S ONE TO SEAM TROMBETTA THE OTHER TO JOVAN YOUNG WHO HAD 15 CATCHES FOR THE NOMADS. ON DEFENSE YOUNG WAS SHADOWING VR58 SPEEDSTER MIKE MCCOY. MCCOY WAS COVERING YOUNG WHEN VR62 WAS ON OFFENSE. PLAYING PRETTY MUCH ONE ON ONE WITH ONE ANOTHER THESE TWO KEY PLAYERS DID BATTLE ALL DAY MANY TIMES JUMPING, DIVING AND CRASHING IN EFFORTS TO GET THE BALL OR MAKE A PLAY FOR THEIR TEAM.

THE GAME WAS UP FOR GRABS AT HALF TIME, A 0-0 DRAW. BUT VR62 CAME OUT AND NIGHTWINE HIT 4 STRAIGHT PASSES TO SCORE ON A 47 YARD PASS TO TROMBETTA TO GO UP 7-0. AFTER DAVIS PICKED OFF A VR58 PASS, VR62 QB NIGHTWINE HIT YOUNG FOR A 70 YARD TD TO MAKE IT 14-0. VR58'S OFFENSE WAS DEAD IN THE WATER AS THOMAS WAS BITING AT THE HEELS OF THE PASSERS ON EVERY PLAY. THOMAS HAD 4 SACKS IN THIS GAME. VR58 FINALLY GOT ON THE BOARD ON A SACK OF NIGHTWINE BY VR58'S BENNETT.

LATER MCCOY PICKED OFF A PASS THE PROMPTLY PULLED IN A 60 YARD PASS FROM VR58 QB MITCHUM. SUDDENLY IT WAS 14-9 AND VR58 LOOKED PRIMED TO PULL A LAST MINUTE COMEBACK AS IT HAD DONE SO MANY TIMES ALREADY IN THE PLAYOFFS. NOW WITH 4 MINUTES LEFT TO PLAY VR58 DEFENSE CAME UP CLUTCH AND STOPPED THE NOMADS. BUT VR58 WAS UNABLE TO GET A FIRST DOWN AS THOMAS GOT ANOTHER SACK AND YOUNG KNOCKED A 4TH DOWN PASS AWAY FROM A LEAPING MCCOY AND IT WAS OVER. VR62 WAS THE CHAMPS WITH A HARD FOUGHT 14-9 WIN.

VR62 BEATS VR58 32-14 TO FORCE THE "IF" GAME.

ANDREW NIGHTWINE THROWS 4 TOUCHDOWN PASSES, SCORES A TD ON A SCREEN PASS AND HAS TWO PICKS AS NOMADS AVENGE EARLIER PLAYOFF LOSS TO SUNSEEKERS. MIKE THOMAS HAS THREE SACKS AND HARASSES VR58 QB THROUGHOUT GAME. JOVAN YOUNG HAS 11 CATCHES INCLUDING 77 YARDER. MATHEW DAVIS ALSO HAS 77 YARD TD.

VR62, AFTER A SLOW START, FOUND IT'S MOJO NEAR THE END OF THE 1ST HALF THEN RAN AWAY WITH THE GAME IN THE 2ND HALF TO WIN EASILY 32-14 OVER DEFENDING CHAMPION VR58. VR62 HAD BEEN PUSHED INTO THE LOSERS BRACKET EARLIER IN THE PLAYOFF WITH A 14-13 LOSS BY VR58. THAT GAME HAD GONE DOWN TO THE LAST PLAY BEFORE VR58 EEKED OUT THE WIN.

BUT VR58 WON THREE GAMES THROUGH THE LOSERS BRACKET TO FIGHT BACK FOR THE RIGHT TO HAVE A RE-MATCH WITH VR58. VR62 WOULD NEED TO BEAT VR58 TWICE IN THE 80 DEGREE HEAT. BUT, WITH IT'S BIG ROSTER AND TEAM OF YOUNG & FAST PLAYERS, VR62 WAS ABLE TO MAN-HANDLE VR58 TO FORCE ONE LAST GAME... WINNER TAKE ALL.

BELOW PHOTO VR62'S JOVAN YOUNG HAD 11 CATCHES & A TD PLUS AND EXTRA POINT IN 32-14 WIN OVER VR58

VR62 MAULS VP16 42-19 TO ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

6 INTERCEPTIONS BY VR62 DEFENSE IS THE DIFFERENCE.

NOMADS DEFENSE PICKS OFF 6 PASSES IN 42-19 WIN

VR62 DEFENSE COMPLETELY DOMINATED THE VP16 PASSING ATTACK IN THE NAS JAX 4 ON 4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS MONDAY. VR62 PICKED OFF 6 PASSES, 5 IN THE FIRST HALF ALONE. DISPITE THE PICKS VP16 WAS ABLE TO STAY IN STRIKING DISTANCE THROUGHOUT MOST OF THE GAME. HOWEVER VR62 OFFENSE LEAD BY VR62 QUARTERBACK ANDREW NIGHTWINE WAS WAY TO MUCH FOR VP16 TO OVER COME. NIGHTWINE HIT 32 OF 44 PASSES FOR 5 TOUCHDOWNS ON THE DAY AND SPREAD THE BUSINESS AROUND. YOUNG LEAD VR62 WITH 11 CATCHES AND WHILE TROMBETTA AND DAVIS BOTH HAD 10 CATCHES EACH. ALL THREE HAD 2 TOUCHDOWN ALTHOUGH ONE OF DAVIS'S TD'S WAS A "PICK 6", INTERCEPTION RETURNED FOR TD ON DEFENSE.

VP16 ACTUALLY SCORED FIRST IN THE GAME WHEN VP16 JOHNSON HIT PILLARS FOR A 67 YARD GAIN ON THE GAMES FIRST PLAY. JOHNSON HIT PILLARS LATER FOR A 2 YD TD AND VP16 STARTED WITH A 6-0 LEAD.

ON VR62'S FIRST DRIVE VR62 QB NIGHTWINE HIT BIG PASSES TO TROMBETTA, ONE FOR 34 AND LATER A 38 YARD TD.NIGHTWINE ADDED THE EXTRA POINT WITH A PASS TO DAVIS & VR62 WENT AHEAD 7-6.

VP16'S NEXT DRIVE ENDED WHEN MATHEW DAVIS PICKED OFF A VP16 PASS AT MIDFIELD. HOWEVER DAVIS DANCED ABOUT TRYING TO SHAKE LOOSE FOR BIG RETURN BUT ENDED UP LOSING 40 YARDS IN THE PROCESS. VR62 WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE BALL FROM THERE AND VP16 STARTED WITH A FRESH SET OF DOWNS. HOWEVER VR62 YOUNG PICKED OFF A TIPPED PASS AND RETURNED IT 22 YARDS TO SET UP VR62 WITH 1ST AND GOAL AT THE 17. FROM THERE NIGHTWINE HIT DAVIS WITH A TOUCHDOWN PASS AND THEN THE EXTRA POINT PASS AND IT WAS 14-6.

ON VP16'S NEXT DRIVE DAVIS STEPPED IN FRONT OF A PASS & PICKED IT OFF TO SET VR62 UP AGAIN AT VP16'S 21 YARD LINE. NIGHTWINE THEN HIT YOUNG FOR A SERIES OF PASSES. YOUNG THEN GRABBED THE TD AND EXTRA POINT TO PUT VR62 UP 21-6. NEXT IT WAS YOUNG WHO JUMPED A VP16 PASS ROUTE AND MADE AN INTERCEPTION & RETURNED IT 40 YARDS TO SET VR62 UP AT THE 20. NIGHTWINE THEN HIT TROMBETTA FOR A TD AND IT WAS 28-6 WITH LESS THAN 2 MINUTES LEFT IN THE HALF. VP16'S VERY NEXT PASS WAS PICKED OF BY DAVIS BUT VR62 COULD NOT SCORE AS TIME RAN OUT ON THE HALF.

THE 2ND HALF OPENED WITH VR62 GETTING THE BALL. VP16 NEEDED A DEFENSIVE STOP IF IT WAS GOING TO HAVE ANY CHANCE AT ALL IN THE CONTEST. ALTHOUGH VR62 DID MARCH DOWN TO THE VP16 GOAL LINE. VP16 GOT A BREAK WHEN VR62 WAS CALLED FOR PUSHING OFF IN THE END ZONE AND THE PENALTY STALLED THE VR62 DRIVE AT THE 5 YARD LINE.

VP16 THEN MARCHED DOWN THE FIELD TO THE VR62 GOAL BUT COULD NOT PUNCH IT IN. THEN VP16 DEFENSE STOPPED VR62 AGAIN AND THIS TIME VP16 SCORED WHEN RUDD HIT JOHNSON SNEAKING OUT OF THE BACKFIELD FOR A TD TO CUT THE LEAD TO 28-13. IF EVERYTHING WENT RIGHT FROM THAT POINT, VP16 LOOKED AS IF IT MIGHT GET BACK INTO THE BALL GAME. BUT THAT GLIMMER OF HOPE VANISHED QUICKLY WHEN NIGHTWINE HIT YOUNG FOR A 70 YARD VR62 TOUCHDOWN TO MAKE IT 35-13 EFFECTIVELY PUTTING THE GAME OUT OF REACH. IT ENDED WITH BOTH TEAMS TRADING TD'S. RUDD GETTING THE TD FOR VP16 AND DAVIS GETTING A PICK 6 TD FOR VR62.

THE WIN PROPELS VR62 INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FOR A REMATCH WITH VR58 WHO NARROWLY BEAT THEM EARLIER IN THE PLAYOFFS 14-13. VP16 LEAVES THE PLAYOFFS WITH A 3RD PLACE FINISH.

THE WINNERS BRACKET FINAL GAME PITTED VR58 SUNSEEKERS AGAINST VP16 WAR EAGLES THURSDAY IN THE NAS JAX 4 ON 4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS.

VR58 HAD THE BALL FIRST AND MOVED THANKS TO A 40 YARD MITCHUM PASS TO MIKE MCCOY. HOWEVER VP16 DEFENSE WAS ABLE TO MOUNT A GOAL LINE STAND AND VR58 TURNED THE BALL OVER ON DOWNS.

VP16 QUARTERBACK BRIAN JOHNSON THEN HIT JACOB HESSELBACHER WITH A 60 YARD PASS THAT SET UP A 7 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS TO ROB PILLARS AND A 7-0 WAR EAGLES LEAD. AFTER ANOTHER DEFENSIVE STOP OF VR58, VP16 AGAIN MOVED DOWN TO SCORE. THIS TIME A 41 YARD PASS PLAY SAM JUDD TO JACOB HESSELBACHER FOR THE SCORE AND A 14-0 VP16 LEAD.

VR58 THEN GOT THINGS GOING AS MARK MITCHUM HIT MCCOY ON A 52 YARD PASS THEN A 7 YARD TD TO CUT THE VP16 LEAD TO 14-6. MCCOY THEN PICKED OFF A VP16 PASS AND RETURNED IT 40 YARDS TO SET UP ANOTHER VR58 TOUCHDOWN AND 2-POINT CONVERSION TO TIE THE GAME 14 ALL AT HALF TIME.

AFTER THE HALF VP16 MOVED THE BALL DOWN TO THE VR58 GOAL LINE USING ITS SHORT YARDAGE BALL CONTROL PASSING SCHEME. HOWEVER THE 8 PLAY DRIVE DID NOT GATHER A SCORE WHEN A 4TH DOWN PASS WAS CAUGHT OUT OF BOUNDS. VR58 QB MITCHUM THEN HIT MCCOY WITH A 70 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS TO MAKE IT 20-14.

VP16 CAME RIGHT BACK WITH A METHODICAL 8 PLAY DRIVEN USING AN ARRAY OF SHORT PASSES & DOUBLE PASSES TO PILLARS AND JUDD. THE DRIVE THIS TIME HIT PAYDIRT WHEN JOHNSON HIT MARK KUNCHEV IN THE BACK OF THE END ZONE FOR THE TD. KUNCHEV MADE A NIFTY CATCH FOR THAT TOUCHDOWN JUST GETTING HIS FEET DOWN AS HE CAUGHT THE BALL AND THEN CRASHING TO THE TURF. THE EXTRA POINT PASS TO JUDD GAVE VP16 A 21-20 LEAD.

VR58 THEN TRIED TO GET THINGS IN GEAR BUT FOUND ITSELF FACING A 4TH AND 6 AT IT'S OWN 34. BUT VR58 QB MITCHUM WHO ALL GAME WAS ABLE TO DANCE AROUND VP16 RUSHERS WAS CLUTCH. HE HIT MCCOY FOR 30 YARDS AFTER HE WIGGLED FREE FROM VP16 COVERAGE. VP16 JUST WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE MITCHUM-MCCOY CONNECTION AS A 4 YARD TD PASS AND 2-POINT CONVERSION RESULTED IN VR58 GOING ON TOP 28-21. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE FOR VP16, A TIPPED PASS WAS PICKED OFF BY MCCOY AND VR58 WAS IN POSITION TO GO UP 2 SCORES...THIS NOW AS TIME WAS BECOMING A FACTOR. VP16 NEEDED A DEFENSIVE STAND WITH VR58 FIRST AND GOAL AT THE 10 YARD LINE. BUT SEVERAL VR58 PASSES IN THE END ZONE WERE BUSTED UP AND AMAZINGLY VP16 HELD OFF VR58 TO KEEP THIER HOPES ALIVE WITH 2 MINUTES LEFT IN THE CONTEST.

VP16 HIT ON SEVEN STRAIGHT SHORT PASSES BUT VR58 WAS PULLING FLAGS TO KEEP THE GAINS SHORT. AS SUCH, VP16 FACED 4TH AND GOAL FROM 20 YARDS OUT. VP16 THEN PULLED OUT A ZINGER PLAY FROM IT'S PLAYBOOK. PILLARS SNAPPED THE BALL SIDEWAYS TO JUDD, THE WIDEOUT.  QB JOHNSON RACED DOWN THE FIELD WHERE JUDD LOFTED HIM THE PASS JUST OVER A LEAPING VR58 DEFENDER FOR THE TOUCHDOWN. JOHNSON HIT PILLARS FOR THE EXTRA POINT TO TIE THE GAME 28-28 WITH 48 SECONDS TO PLAY.

IT LOOKING LIKE A POSSIBLE OVERTIME SITUATION UNLESS VR58 COULD MOVE 78 YARDS IN 48 SECONDS. MITCHUM HIT MCCOY ON A QUICK OUT FOR 8 YARDS & OUT OF BOUNDS TO STOP THE CLOCK. THEN IT LOOKED LIKE VR58 MIGHT RUN THAT SAME PLAY AGAIN BUT NO SPORTS FANS. MCCOY FAKED THE OUT AND BROKE DEEP WHERE MITCHUM HIT HIM WITH A 51 YARD PASS FOR A 1ST AND GOAL FROM THE 19. VR58 WAS OUT OF TIME OUTS AND THERE WAS ONLY 15 SECONDS LEFT. A PASS INTO THE END ZONE WAS BROKEN UP BY VP16. 11 SECONDS NOW LEFT ON THE CLOCK. MITCHUM THEN HIT JAMES TRABER. TRABER, WHO CAUGHT THE BALL AT THE ONE, WAS JUST ABLE TO STRETCH THE BALL AND BREAK THE PLANE OF THE ENDZONE AS HIS FLAG WAS PULLED. IT WAS A TOUCHDOWN....BARELY. BUT NONE THE LESS... A TD & POSSIBLE GAME WINNER. TRABER SNAGGING THE EXTRA POINT IT WAS VR58 IN THE LEAD 35-28... 3 SECONDS LEFT. IT WAS PRETTY MUCH IN THE BOOKS AT THAT POINT.  VP16 PILLARS TRIED TO DANCE 78 YARDS FOR A MIRACLE RUN. BUT IT WAS OVER. 35-28 VR58 ON TOP.

VR58 QB MITCHUM COMPLETED 31 OF 41 PASSES FOR 4 TD'S AND ZERO PICKS. MCCOY HAD 18 CATCHES AND 4 TD'S... 33 POINTS ON THE DAY. FOR VP16 JOHNSON WAS 27 FOR 36 AND 2 TD'S PASSING PLUS ONE RECEIVING. JUDD WAS 3 OF 6 PASSING AND TWO TDS PLUS CAUGHT 16 PASSES. PILLARS HAD 9 CATCHES.

VR62 BEATS FRCSE 28-20 TO KEEP ALIVE. LATER BEATS VP30 O'S

VR62 KEPT ALIVE IN THE NAS JAX 4ON4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS WITH A 28-20 WIN OVER FRCSE. VR62 SCORED ON IT'S FIRST THREE DRIVES WHEN VR62 QB NIGHTWINE HIT TD PASSES TO YOUNG, TROMBETTA AND DAVIS. ALSO VR62 WAS ABLE TO CONVERT ALL IT'S EXTRA POINTS WHICH KEPT FRCSE BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL. NIGHTWINE HIT 25 OF 32 PASSES AND 4 TDS. NIGHTWINE HIT 10 PASSES TO YOUNG, 9 TO TROMBETTA AND 7 TO DAVIS. FRCSE QB TAYLOR HIT 20 OF 30 BUT MOST COMPLETIONS WERE 10 OR LESS YARDS AS VR62 DEFENSE WAS QUICK ON THE FLAG ALL DAY. VR62 WAS VERY EFFICIENT & SCORED ON EACH POSSESSION UNTIL THE END WHEN IT WAS JUST TRYING TO BURN THE CLOCK.

BELOW VR62 WINS IN A DEFENSIVE BATTLE WITH VP30 O'S 14-7. AFTER VP30 HAD CONNECTED ON A 62 YD BOMB TO START THE GAME VR62 DEFENSE SHUT THEM DOWN. THEY DID NOT SCORE AGAIN WHILE VR62 WAS ABLE TO GET TWO TOUCHDOWN PASSES FROM NIGHTWINE TO MATHEW DAVIS. ONE OF THOSE WAS A 79 YARD PASS JUST BEFORE THE HALF. DAVIS HAD 5 CATCHES BUT 4 WERE FOR SCORES PLUS HE HAD A 29 YARD RUN LATE IN THE GAME TO HELP VR62 BURN SOME CLOCK WHEN THEY HAD BUILT A 14-7 LEAD. YOUNG HAD 6 CATCHES FOR VR62. QB NIGHTWINE HIT 13 FOR 27 PASSES IN THE CONTEST AND HAD A KEY INTERCEPTION LATE IN THE GAME TO SET UP THE WINNING SCORE. VP30 ONLY HIT 8 OF 23 PASSES.

GAME SUMMARY VR62 NOMADS VS VR58 SUNSEEKERS WINNERS BRACKET SEMI FINALS:

IN AN EPIC BATTLE OF TWO TEAM THAT RESIDE NEXT DOOR ABOARD NAS JAX, VR58 FACED OFF WITH VR62 IN THE 4ON4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS MARCH 13TH. FROM THE BEGINNING BOTH TEAMS DEFENSIVES SEEMED TO BE LOCKED ON AND DETERMINED NOT TO GIVE UP A BIG PLAY. IT WAS SERIES AFTER SERIES OF BIG PLAY DEFENSE THAT TOOK UP MOST OF THE FIRST HALF.

IT WAS NOT UNTIL 2 MINUTES LEFT IN THE HALF DID SOMEONE FINALLY GET A BIG PLAY. IT WAS VR58 QB MITCHUM WHO FOUND MCCOY BEHIND THE VR62 DEFENSE AND MITCHUM HEAVED A PASS TO HIM ....ON THE RUN NEARLY 50 YARDS IN THE AIR FOR A FIRST AND GOAL. AFTER A VR62 SACK OF MITCHUM PUT VR58 BACK TO THE 20,  THE MITCHUM TO MCCOY CONNECTON RANG UP A VR58 TD. THE PASS TO JOEL FOR THE EXTRA POINT GAVE VR58 A 7-0 HALFTIME LEAD.

BUT VR62 CAME OUT AFTER THE HALF STOPPING VR58 ON DEFENSE. FROM THERE VR62 QB ANDREW NIGHTWINE HIT ON 5 STRAIGHT PASSES AND MARCHED DOWN THE FIELD HITTING YOUNG FOR A 7 YARD TD PASS. HE THEN TOSSED TO TROMBETTA FOR THE EXTRA POINT TO TIE THE GAME 7 ALL.

VR58 THEN MOUNTED A 8 PLAY DRIVE AND SEEMED AS IF THEY WOULD ANSWER THE SCORE WITH ONE OF IT'S OWN. HOWEVER A FLAG GUARD PENALTY WIPED OUT A 25 YARD PASS AND VR58 DRIVE STALLED. BUT VR58 GOT THE BALL RIGHT BACK WHEN TRADER PICKED OFF A PASS GIVING THE SUNSEEKERS 1ST AND GOAL AT VR62'S 10. IT WASN'T EASY BUT VR58 WAS ABLE TO PUNCH IT INTO THE END ZONE DISPITE THE DETERMINED EFFORTS OF VR62 DEFENSE.
IT TOOK A DIVING CATCH BY JOEL OF A MITCHUM 1 YARD PASS TO FINALLY GET IT DONE. MITCHUM LOFTED A PASS TO MCCOY JUST OUT OF THE REACH OF VR62 DEFENDERS TO RING UP THE VERY IMPORTANT EXTRA POINT.

NOW WITH 5 MINUTES LEFT AND VR58 LEADING 14-7 TIME HAD BECOME A BIG FACTOR. THE VR58 DEFENSE WAS ON TOP OF EVERY PLAY AND LOOKED AS IF THEY HAD VR62 STOPPED ON A 4TH DOWN PASS. BUT BEHOLD! VR58 WAS FLAGGED FOR A ROUGHING THE PASSER AND VR62 WAS GIVEN A FRESH SET OF DOWNS. VR62 QB NIGHTWINE THEN HIT YOUNG FOR THREE STRAIGHT PASSES TO NET A 1ST DOWN. THEN HIT DAVIS TO MOVE THE BALL TO THE VR58 7 YARD LINE. YOUNG PULLED IN A 7 YARD TD PASS WITH 49 SECONDS TO GO IN THE GAME TO MAKE IT 14-13.

NEEDING THE EXTRA POINT HERE OR LOSE... VR62 NIGHTWINE LOBBED A PASS INTO THE ENDZONE. YOUNG HAD WIGGLED FREE ENOUGH TO MAKE A DEPERATE LUNGE AT THE BALL ...WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET A HAND ON IT. IT POPPED UP IN THE AIR AS DAVIS CAME FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION AND DIVED FOR THE BALL AS IT FLOATED TO THE TURF. HE COULD NOT GET THERE IN TIME AND ALTHOUGH DAVIS DID SNATCH UP THE BALL AS HE ROLLED ACROSS THE ENDZONE GRASS THE BALL HAD HIT THE GROUND. IT WAS OVER. FINAL SCORE VR58 THE WINNER...14-13.

MITCHUM HIT 20-23 PASSES IN THE GAME FOR VR58. MCCOY HAD 12 CATCHES AND JOEL HAD 7 CATCHES, BOTH SNAGGED A TOUCHDOWN AND EXTRA POINT. FOR VR62 NIGHTWINE CONNECTED ON 19 OF 35 PASSES. YOUNG HAD 9 CATCHES AND TWO TD.

NAS JAX 4 ON 4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS MARCH 12

TUESDAY THE 2ND ROUND OF THE NAS JAX 4ON4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS BEGAN. VR62, THE PLAYOFFS #1 SEED, MANGLED HITRON 34-12. VR62 QUARTERBACK ANDREW NIGHTWINE HIT ON 18 OF 27 PASSES FOR 5 TOUCHDOWNS. VR62' MATHEW DAVIS HAD 8 CATCHES AND 3 TDS WHILE VR62 YOUNG HAD 6 CATCHES AND 2 TD.

MEANWHILE THE #2 SEED IN THE PLAYOFFS, VP30 O'S HAD TO BREAK LOOSE LATE IN THE CONTEST WITH VP5 WHO HAD PLAYED THEM TO A 7-7 HALF TIME TIE. THE FINAL 34-9.

IN THE LATE GAME HBNC CLINIC BEAT NOSC 34-21. NOSC HAD PULLED CLOSE IN THAT GAME 23-21 WITH 5 MINUTES LEFT IN THE GAME BUT HBNC RALLIED FOR TWO LATE SCORES TO PRESERVE THE WIN.

BELOW IS HIGHLIGHT VIDEO FROM VR62 34-12 WIN OVER HITRON

MARCH 11TH
VP16 & VR58 ADVANCE IN PLAYOFFS WITH COME FROM BEHIND VICTORIES MONDAY IN THE NAS JAX 4ON4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS

BELOW IS VP16 TEAM INTERVIEW AFTER THE 34-32 VICTORY OVER FRCSE IN THE OPENING ROUND OF THE NAS JAX 4ON4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS

VP16 STUNS FRCSE IN 34-32 THRILLER. VP16 GOAL LINE STAND IN THE END SEALS VICTORY.

BRIAN JOHNSON HIT ROBERT PILLARS WITH A 38 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS WITH LESS THAN TWO MINUTES LEFT IN THE GAME THEN VP16 HELD OFF A LATE CHARGE BY FRCSE TO WIN 34-32 IN THE NAS JAX 4ON4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS OPENING ROUND.

VP16 FELL BEHIND EARLY 13-0 WHEN FRCSE WHEN BOMBS AWAY. QB JON TAYLOR HIT MICHEAL TEKAC WITH A 39 YARD TD BOMB THEN HIT PAUL HELM WITH ANOTHER LONG BOMB TOUCHDOWN.

BUT VP16 DID NOT PANIC. VP16 USED A WELL ORCHESTRATED ATTACK THAT EMPLOYED QB JOHNSON MIXING LATERALS TO 2ND PASSER SAM JUDD & THROWING PASSES DOWNFIELD TO ROBERT PILLARS AND MARK KUNHEV. BUT JUDD WAS KEY IN THE SCHEME. AT TIMES HE WOULD SLIP OUT AND CATCH PASSES & AT OTHER TIMES HANG BACK AND WAIT FOR KUNHEV AND PILLARS TO SHAKE OFF A DEFENDER THEN HIT THEM WITH A ROCKET PASS.

SO ...JUST WHEN IT LOOKED AS FRCSE WOULD ROLL THEM OVER & WHEN VP16 NEEDED IT MOST.... IT WAS PILLARS WHO CAME UP CLUTCH. PILLARS GRABBED A 7 YARD TD PASS FROM JOHNSON TO COMPLETE A FLAWLESS 5 PLAY DRIVE TO CUT FRCSE LEAD TO 13-7. FRCSE PROMPTLY MARCHED DOWN THE FIELD AND THREATENED TO SCORE UNTIL A HUGE 4TH DOWN SACK BY VP16 RUSHER STYF CAUSED FRCSE TO TURN IT OVER ON DOWNS.

VP16 THEN LOOKED TO HAVE ITS OFFENSIVE GAME PLAN CLICKING. THE JOHNSON-JUDD PASSING MACHINE HIT ON 6 OF 7 PASSES AND PILLARS AGAIN GRABBED A JOHNSON TD. THEN JOHNSON HIT JUDD FOR THE POINT AFTER AND VP16 HAD IT'S FIRST LEAD 14-13. FRCSE WENT 4 AND OUT AS THE CLOCK WAS RUNNING DOWN FOR THE HALF. WITH LESS THAN A MINUTE LEFT JUDD HIT KUNHEV WITH A 58 YARD BOMB FOR A 1ST DOWN AT FRCSE 20. BUT THE CLOCK RAN OUT WITH VP16 LEADING 14-13.

FRCSE TAYLOR CAME OUT IN TGHE 2ND HALF SLINGING THE LONG BALL. HE HIT HELM WITH A 42 YARD STRIKE THEN AGAIN WITH A 2ND BOMB. JUST LIKE THAT FRCSE LEAD 25-14.DOWN BY TWO SCORES VP16 PINNED THEIR HOPES ON PASSES TO PILLARS. IT WORKED IN PART DUE TO A HUGE PASS INTERFERENCE CALL WHEN FRCSE DEFENDER PUSHED OFF WHILE TRYING TO COVER THE SLIPPERY 5 FOOT TALL RECEIVER. JOHNSON THEN CONNECTED
WITH PILLARS FOR A TD AND EXTRA POINT TO MAKE THE SCORE 25-21.

WHAT WAS COMING UP BIG WITH THESE TEAMS TRADING TOUCHDOWNS WAS THAT VP16 WAS CONVERTING THE EXTRA POINTS THANKS TO THE PRECISE EXECUTION OF THE SHORT PASSING GAME. HOWEVER FRCSE CONTINUED TO THROW DEEP WITH MEASURED SUCCESS. TAYLOR HIT TEKAC WITH A 58 YARD TD TO MAKE IT 32-21 FRCSE.

WITH TIME RUNNING DOWN IT LOOKED LIKE VP16 WOULD STALL. FACED WITH A CRITICAL 4TH DOWN AND 20 VP16 QB JOHNSON THREW TO PILLARS ABOUT 10 YARDS SHY OF THE 1ST DOWN. AMAZINGLY, PILLARS SPUN, WEAVED THEN BROKE FREE. PILLARS HAD TURNED THE 10 YARD PASS INTO A 40 YARD GAIN SETTING UP A FIRST AND GOAL. JOHNSON HIT A TD PASS TO KUNHEV TO KEEP VP16 HOPES ALIVE 32-28.

BUT IT LOOKED AS IF FRCSE WAS GOING TO PUT THE GAME AWAY AS THEY MOVED THE BALL WITH A NEW WRINKLE IN IT'S OFFENSE USING TEKAC TO EITHER GRAB A SHORT PASS OR A LATERAL. ON THE LATERAL TEKAC WOULD HIT THE ELUSIVE QB TAYLOR WITH A PASS. THEY MOVED THE BALL TO VP16'S GOAL LINE AND SEEMED UNSTOPPABLE. BUT WHEN TAYLOR TRIED TO HIT TEKAC IN THE END ZONE VP16 JACOB HESSELBACKER RIPPED THE BALL AWAY FOR A CLUTCH INTERCEPTION.

VP16 HAD STOPPED FRCSE BUT HAD THE BALL ON IT'S OWN ONE YARD LINE AND TWO MINUTES TO PLAY. VP16 STILL NEEDED A MIRACLE. JOHNSON HIT JUDD FOR SHORT GAIN THEN PILLARS FOR 25 YARDS AND A FIRST DOWN AT MIDFIELD. JOHNSON THEN THREW DEEP TO PILLARS WHO MADE AN OVER THE SHOULDER CATCH FOR A 38 YARD TD GIVING VP16 A 34-32 LEAD.

WITH VIRUALLY NO TIME LEFT, TAYLOR WAS GOING WITH HIS "MONEY MAN" TEKAC TO TRY AND PULL THIS GAME OUT OF THE FIRE. IT LOOKED LIKE IT MIGHT WORK AS FOUR PASSES MOVED FRCSE TO VP16'S 20 YARD LINE. BUT VP16'S DEFENSE CAME UP BIG WHEN IT NEEDED. THEY BROKE UP THE FINAL TWO PASSES IN THE END ZONE AND IT WAS OVER. 34-32 THE FINAL WITH VP16 ON TOP.

JOHNSON WAS 22 FOR 35 PASSING WITH 5 TD AND 4 EXTRA POINTS. JUDD HAD 10 CATCHES AND PILLARS HAD 9. HOWEVER PILLARS HAD 4 TOUCHDOWNS AND 3 EXTRA POINTS - 27 TOTAL POINTS. JUDD WAS 6 OF 9 AS THE 2ND PASSER IN VP16 OFFENSIVE SCHEME. FOR FRCSE TAYLOR WAS 26 FOR 43 PASSING AND 5 TD. BOTH HELM & TEKAC HAD 13 CATCHES EACH. BUT THE STAT THAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE WAS THIS. FRCSE ONLY COLLECTED 2 EXTRA POINTS WHILE VP16 GOT 4.

BELOW VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS FROM VP16 VS FRCSE

VR58 COMES FROM BEHIND IN TOUGH WIN OVER BRANCH CLINIC. KEY DEFENSIVE SCORE TURNS THE TIDE IN THRILLING GAME

VR58 ESCAPED A HARD FOUGHT BATTLE WITH BRANCH CLINIC (HBHC) IN THE NAS JAX 4ON4 FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS OPENING ROUND 34-26. THE GAME WAS MUCH CLOSER THAN THE SCORE INDICATED. HBHC HIT A LONG PASS TOSSAS TO FARR FOR A QUCIK 7-0 LEAD TO OPEN THE GAME. FARR THEN PICKED OFF A VR58 PASS AND WAS SET UP FIRST & GOAL. BUT VR58 HELD.

VR58 MITCHUM MOVED HIS TEAM DOWN HITTING A 25 YARD PASS TO DEAN THEN A 20 YD PASS TO MANTI TE'O. DEAN GRABBED A PASS FOR A TD AND IT 7-6. CLINIC THEN HIT A 42 YD TD BOMB TO #1 DAY TO PUT THEM UP BY 13-6. THEN FARR PICK OFF A PASS FOR A "PICK 6" AND SUDDENLY WAS LEADING 19-7. BUT MITCHUM HIT TE'O FOR A 39 YD TD AND THE SCORE WAS 19-12 AT THE HALF.

VR58 GOT THE BALL AFTER THE HALF AND MITCHUM - MIKE MCCOY BEGAN TO GET DIALED IN. MCCOY GRABBED A 39 YARD TD TO TIE THE GAME 19-19.FROM THERE BOTH TEAM COULD NOT MOVE THE BALL AND THE GAME PROGRESSED TO LATE IN THE GAME STILL TIED AT 19. THEN CLINIC MADE A GOAL LINE STAND AFTER VR 58 HAD MOVED INTO A FIRST AND GOAL AND LOOKED READY TO MADE A BID FOR THE LEAD. BUT INSTEAD THE VR58 RUSH (CHICKEN HAWK) TRAPPED THE CLINIC QB IN THE ENDZONE FOR A SAFETY. VR58 NOW HAD THE LEAD 21-19. A LEAD THEY WOULD NOT GIVE UP.

NOW WITH THE BALL AFTER THE SAFETY VR58 MOVED DOWN AND SCORED WHEN MCCOIY MADE AN AMAZING OVER THE SHOULDER CATCH FOR A 30 YARD TOOUCHDOWN WITH 3:16 LEFT IN THE GAME. DOWN NOW 28-19 CLINIC DID COME BACK TO SCORE, WITH FARR GETTING ANOTHER TD BUT THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO NARROW THE SCORE 28-26. VR58 GOT THE BALL WITH 1:51 LEFT AND RAN THE CLOCK OUT.. SCORING AN INSIGNIFICANT TD ON THE LAST PLAY. VR58 HAD WON 34-26 THE FINAL.

MITCHUM HIT 29 OF 44 PASSES& 5 TD'S DISPITE 4 INTERCEPTIONS. MCCOY HAD 14 CATCHES, 3 TDS AND 2 PICKS IN THE GAME. BUT THE CIRCUS TD CATCH WILL BE LONG REMEMBERED BY THOSE WHO SAW IT. MCCOY HAD BEEN SLAPPED AROUND EARLY IN THE GAME BUT IN THE END SEEMED TO USE THE ABUSE TO ELEVATE HIS GAME TO A SUPERMAN LEVEL & HELP VR58 ICE THE GAME.

VR62         VR-62 is the # 1 Seed putting up a 7-1 record. However Sportstew did not have a chance to scout them. We will see about these guys. I do know that in the 7 on 7 Playoffs in December that a VR-62 team knocked off the tournament #1 seed. It is possible this team has parts from that bunch.

VR58
VR-58 has key parts from Decembers 7 on 7 Championship team. McCoy & Dean will be deep threats on Offense and will be ball hawking on defense. It is not uncommon to see VR58 Defense getting pickoffs by the handfulls. Chicken Hawk will be rushing the passer and will keep the opponents QB's on the run. QB Mitchum will be behind Center Joel and with proven playoff experience VR58 should be able to play with anyone.

BELOW DEMARCUS DEAN PULLS IN A 60 YARD PASS FROM MITCHUM FOR A TOUCHDOWN.

BELOW VR58'S JOEL ROGERS PULLS IN A 65 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS IN GAME MAR 6 VERSUS NBHC

VP30

VP30 O's QB Brown and his team returns with a cast of players from it's championship runner up dask from the Dec 7 on 7. They have the #2 seed and look for them near the Top when it is all done.

VP30 DID NOT LOSE A GAME WHEN QUARTERBACK RYAN BROWN WAS ON THE FIELD. HE LED THE WAY AS VP30 IS THE #1 SEED IN THE PLAYOFFS AND HAVE A FIRST ROUND BYE

FRCSE

FRCSE Nightmare has something to prove. The early exit from the 7 on 7 playoffs has to sting. Plus this is QB Taylor final playoffs of his Navy Career. I am sure he wants to go out with a Bang. His favorite target Tekac is a tough sure handed wide out who knows how to get open and catches anything near him. The supporting cast seems to be there again so look for FRCSE to be a threat.

FRCSE QB TAYLOR IS A RUN & PASS THREAT. FRCSE HAS NOT BEEN BEAT WITH TAYLOR AT QB THIS SEASON

FRCSE TEKAC IS TAYLOR'S GO TO RECIEVER. BIG, FAST AND SURE HANDED, IF YOU CAN'T STOP TEKAC YOU CAN'T STOP FRCSE
